About Me

Empathic – Gentle – Supportive

I’m Imogen, a 24-year-old doula and singer, based in North-East Nottinghamshire.

Before training to become a doula, I spent four years getting a degree in classical singing but, after finishing it, I felt burnt out and decided to try something new. I’ve always felt a pull to help others, and was very interested in pregnancy and birth, but it was hearing my mum’s stories about her births with me and my sister that really inspired me to become a doula. I not only felt a deep sadness for every mother who has suffered from a traumatic birth, but also an anger for them that they had been let down by our maternity system. I realised I wanted to help future mothers navigate the system so that they didn’t have to go through the same thing.

Why the Butterfly?

You might be wondering, why the butterfly? Growing up, the butterfly was the symbol of the girls’ choir I sung with and, since then, I have seen butterflies as a symbol of female strength, hope and resilience. Caterpillars go through a difficult and transformative physical process to become something beautiful, flying free. Coincidentally, all of these things make the butterfly a perfect emblem for birth. To me, finding your inner butterfly is all about gathering your inner strength to prepare for your birth journey, and trusting in your body to work with you throughout that process.

I am here to support you, no matter how you want to birth or where. Everyone is welcome here and, if you choose to work with me, I hope that you find it a safe and inclusive space to learn about this journey, with zero judgement from me.
