A certified doula is a trained birth companion who is there to support you both practically and emotionally, teaching you how to advocate for yourself and navigate the maternity system. A doula will take the time to understand what you want from your birth journey and help you to prepare for it. Unlike a midwife, a doula cannot deliver your baby or give any medical advice, but I can signpost you to relevant information on your pregnancy, birth, and postpartum period.
Yes, absolutely! I can support you emotionally and practically with your home and/or water birth to help you feel confident in yourself and your body.
Yes. I am not a licensed therapist or medical practitioner, but I can be there to gently guide you to build trust again between you and your body and begin to see it as your ally, rather than your enemy.
Of course! I’m there to support you, no matter your sexuality, culture, or identity. My job is to make you feel safe, supported and confident in yourself.
Currently, there is no denying that the UK’s maternity system is in crisis. As a doula, I can offer you continuity of care and support before, during and after your birth. This means that I can guide you through the maternity system and around it, so that your wants and needs are met surrounding your birth and you don’t feel alone.
A rebozo is a traditional Mexican shawl or scarf used for warmth, but it is now used by doulas for massage and comfort. Unlike a normal blanket, a rebozo has a strong, woven texture, which is perfect for supporting a pregnant stomach, aiding in belly binding and even turning unborn babies who aren’t in an optimal position, plus much more.
